BUTCHER, INDUSTRIAL

Location:  Redstone, BC

Positions Available: 2

Hours: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week

Timing:  Morning, Day

Rate: $25/ hour (To be negotiated)

When: As soon as possible

Transportation/Travel Information: Own Transportation, Own Vehicle, Valid Driver’s License, Public transportation is not available

Work Location Information:  Rural area, Willing to relocate, Relocation costs not covered by employer

 
Job Requirements

Languages:  English

Education:  Secondary (High) School graduation certificate

Experience:  1 year to less than 2 years

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye coordination, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling

Work Site Environment:  Noisy, Odours, Cold/refrigerated

Work Setting:
Slaughter houses, Meat processing and/or packing plant/establishment, Poultry processing plant

Personal Suitability:  Accurate, Team player

Equipment and Machinery Experience:
Cleavers, Knives, Stunning devices, Power cutting tools, Saws

Specific Skills:
Slaughter livestock and remove viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses, Slaughter cattle, calves, and sheep as prescribed by religious laws, Cut beef, lamb, pork or veal carcasses or sides or quarters of carcasses into primal cuts for further cutting, processing or packaging, Remove feathers and singe and wash poultry to prepare for further processing or packaging, Cut meat and poultry into specific cuts for institutional, commercial or other wholesale use, Remove bones from meat

Weight Handling:
More than 45 kg (100 lbs)

MEAT CUTTER

Pasture to Plate is currently looking for a full-time Meat Cutter to be a key member of our Commercial Drive Whole Animal Butcher Shop in Vancouver, BC. We offer a premium wage in an excellent work environment, with the shared value, “People, Animals, and Healthy Soils.”

Key Responsibilities

  • Breakdown carcasses
  • Cut, trim, bone, grind, and portion meat to specifications for orders
  • Prepare sausages and meat deli products
  • Follow PACS, CFIA, and WorkSafeBC regulations
  • Clean tools, equipment, and work area to health and sanitation standards
  • Ensure products meet quality standards

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar position
  • Have respect for wholesome food productions and organic practices
  • Speak, read, and write basic English
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards an asset

SERVICE STAFF

SERVER/BARTENDER – NOW HIRING ASSISTANT FOR A REMOTE AREA ORGANIC RESTAURANT / GIFT-SHOP / ACCOMMODATION:

Work Days/Structure: 10 days on 4 days off, expected to work long weekends.

Hours: 10am-7pm. 30 min lunch break + 2 x 15 minute breaks (breaks unpaid)

Paid Biweekly, $15 hour.

Accommodations: Staff shared accommodation about a 15 minute drive from work on the beautiful ranch, furnished, $550 monthly, utilities included, no smoking indoors.

What To Do In The Area: Look online for hundreds of awesome outdoor activities to do in the area, including fishing, hiking, canoeing kayaking, biking.

The Team: you will be mainly working with the owner & serving staff (1-2 ppl)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prep
  • Helping in the kitchen, if needed
  • Dishwashing
  • Meal prep for Vancouver outlets
  • Barista
  • Cash register
  • Maintaining order and tidiness of the gift shop
  • Helping with general kitchen-restaurant and shop cleanliness
  • Cleaning guest accommodations when necessary (rental cabins)
  • Closing duties at shop/restaurant, such as sales report and cash out

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience in a restaurant or cafe.
  • Service experience needed
  • Good customer service and people skills are essential for this job
  • Food Safe Level 1
  • Serving it Right Certification
  • Valid Drivers License
  • English skills must be sufficient

Fast-paced environment, Standing for extended periods, Attention to detail, Physically demanding, Handling heavy loads, Hand-eye co-ordination, Manual dexterity, Repetitive tasks, Bending, crouching, kneeling.

Work Site Environment:  Cold/refrigerated

Work Setting: Butcher Shop

Personal Suitability:  Accurate, Team player, Reliability, Organized, Initiative, Dependability

Equipment and Machinery Experience:
Slicing machine, Power grinder, Manual cutting utensil, Band saw, Sausage machine, Saws, Cleavers, Power cutting tools, Knives

Specific Skills:
Cut carcasses, sides and quarters, Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat, Remove bones from meat, Cut poultry into parts, Grind meats, Make special sausages, Slice cooked meats, Prepare special orders, Prepare special displays of meats, poultry and fish products, Shape, lace and tie roasts, other meats, poultry and seafood, Cut beef, lamb, pork or veal carcasses or sides or quarters of carcasses into primal cuts for further cutting, processing or packaging.
